11yo: “It was fun trying to figure out the symbols. It’s like Charades and I love Charades.”

We’ve owned Concept for years and love busting it out as a light, end of night game. By using the symbolic pictures on the board paired with adorable cubes, it’s a great way to get our more introverted (or hobby board game hesitant) friends into a party game. And, what do you know, this game is also great for the whole family!

It’s an incredibly easy game to learn, and we hazard that you could figure it out without reading the instructions at all! We also never play it competitively (although you totally can if that’s your jam)—we’re just excited when we guess what word or phrase is being communicated. That “AHA!” moment is a win for the whole table.

9yo: “It was really fun trying to guess as well as getting others to guess your word.”

Another part we love? There are several options on each card for clue givers to choose from. This means there’s usually at least one word, phrase, or pop culture reference that the table will be able to guess. There are definitely things your kids will know, but you could always make your own cards as well to give different options for your kids.

If we could recommend a single party game for the widest variety of players, Concept is in our top three.

Helpful Hints

  • Let the kids make more Concept cards with words they want or pictures so non-readers can play!
  • If you aren’t counting points, give candy to the winners of each round instead of points.
